World Youth Skills Day 2015 (UN)

In 2014, the UN General Assembly designated 15 July as World Youth Skills Day. World Youth Skills Day serves as an opportunity to highlight the importance of youth skills development.

World Youth Skills Day underscores the need to support programming and initiatives that equip young people with tools and resources to enhance their ability to make informed life and work choices.

The Situation of #YouthNow – Statistics and figures highlighting the situation of young people around the world.

The Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth presents this overview highlighting the situation of young people around the world. This overview is the result of the information and statistics gathered to inform the discussion about the situation of young people during the campaign #YouthNow. The information provided in this section was made available with the support of our partners: UNDESA, UNAIDS, UNAOC, UNCDF, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCO, UNFCCC, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNIDO, UN-HABITAT, UNHCR, OCHA, UNODC, UN WOMEN, UNWTO, FAO, ILO, IOM, ITU, WFP, WHO, Office of the SRSG on Violence Against Children, and the UN Peace Building Support Office.

The infographics were produced for the #YouthNow campaign as part of the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary World Programme of Action for Youth which was launched by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The campaign was coordinated by the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth and the UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs, and with the support of the Office of the President of the UN General Assembly.

– Approximately 238 million youth live in extreme poverty with less than $1 a day.
– More than 500 million youth aged 15-24 live on less than $2 a day.
– 2 out of 3 countries do not consult young people as a part of the process of preparing poverty reduction strategies or national development plans.
– WFP estimates that around 60% of the world’s chronically hungry people are women and girls.

Structured Participation of Young Women in Democratic Processes (SPYWDP) ddl. 06.08

The training will be organised in the framework of the 16th edition of the University on Youth and Development (UYD) and in parallel with other activities organised by the others partners.

This first edition of the training of trainers on SPYWDP is considered as a pilot activity of the Empowerment of Women programme of North-South Center (NSC) and will be further improved taking into consideration the evaluation of participants and pedagogical team, as well as the learning needs and motivations expressed by selected participants in the application forms.

On the basis of 2014/2015 programme of activities of NSC, the overall objective of the activity is to support empowerment of civil society and more particularly of the youth and women organisations involved on empowerment of young women with the purpose of making them fully fledged actors of governance.

The specific objectives are:

– To reflect about our individual and organisational practice of global democratic citizenship (participation and representation in decision/ policymaking);

-To map good practices of Structured Participation of young women in Europe and Southern Mediterranean region;

-To get acquainted with different principles, tools and opportunities to further develop the organisation of the young women movement mainly in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region and of Structured Participation initiatives and mechanisms;

-To exchange views and share challenges and achievements and identify proposals for improvement with representatives of the quadrilogue;

-To engage youth and women organisations in the intra and inter-regional co-operation

Profile of Participants

This training course will focus on the development of competencies of youth workers/activists involved in civil society organisations in Europe and Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.

The course is addressed to young people from Europe (CoE member States) and Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.

Participants should fulfill the following criteria :

-Being actively involved in a youth or women organisation (local, national, regional, international) as volunteers, trainers and/or youth workers;

-Aged between 18-30 years old;

-Being involved in an organisation, project or initiative that aims at the participation of young people in democratic governance/decision and policy making.

Objectives and Expected Results

The North-South Centre, together with its partners, has developed and tested training methods and tools for this type of activities; it has also benefited from the knowledge of some of the best trainers and youth workers in the fields of Euro-Arab and Mediterranean Youth Co-operation and global democratic citizenship.

The team of experienced trainers from Europe and Southern and Eastern Mediterranean will be responsible to further design and implement the methodology of the course.

In addition, invited guests and experts will provide proposals for reflection and share good practices.

The course will be also a mutual learning experience, where participants can compare their approaches and concerns in a process based on global education methodology.

The course is a week-long programme using a variety of educational methods such as: thematic, methodological and political inputs and discussions, new technologies, guidelines and reference documents, simulation exercises, group dynamics, interactive role plays, examples of good practices, etc. The use of experiential methods and workshops will strengthen the practical and pedagogical side of the course.

The programme will tackle issues such as the concepts and practices of global democratic citizenship, the role of youth and women organisations in decision-making and policy design, implementation and evaluation, the quadrilogue, tools and mechanisms for an effective participation of youth in democratic life and sharing of good practices.

Selection Process

All applicants fulfilling the criteria and interested to participate should send the application form to [email protected] by the 6th of August 2015 (23:59, Lisbon time).

The application form should be sent together with a letter of recommendation from the sending organisation, clearly mentioning the possibility of follow-up regarding the main aims of the training course.

You should receive a confirmation of reception of your application within 5 working days. If you don’t receive it, please inform us.

The selection will be carried out by the North-South Centre and the pedagogical team, in consultation with partners active in the Euro-Arab and Mediterranean Youth Co-operation.

The selection will seek regional, organisational and gender balance. The final results will be announced until 14th of August 2015.

Smiling Europe: Innovation & new methods in youth work_3-9 Sept Enna (Italy)

Social DOers, under the leadership of Giosef Italy, is looking for 2 youth workers/youth trainers to take part in  a new European adventure!

“Smiling Europe” is aimed to innovate non formal education & improve the skills of youth workers in using methods that address anti-discrimination and inclusion. The main session will be an open Barcamp. BE READY, PARTICIPATE, SHARE AND SMILE.

“Smiling Europe” is a Partnership Building project. It is meant to foster work and cooperation in youth field, to be smart and innovative and to give our contribution towards European growth and social cohesion. We think that, by sharing experiences and good practices, we can reach the objective of improving our competences and our quality work as well as promoting the job carried out by youth workers.

The Countries taking part to the project are 6: Italy, Romania, Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary.

The activities will take place in an hotel based in Enna and they will last for 7 days (included arrival and departure days). During the Seminar different non-formal education methodologies will be used. There will also be sessions related to project drafting and management within the framework of Erasmus+ programme as well as a session on competences recognition trough Youthpass. Free time to better get to know each other is foreseen too.

The Barcamp – a new approach in youth work
On the 6th of September will be held the “Barcamp” activity runned by participants of the Seminar and open to all young Italian people who will apply to participate.

The first BarCamp was held in Palo Alto, California, from August 19–21, 2005. It was organized in less than one week, from concept to event, with 200 attendees.

Selectare 2 traineri: Advocacy for NGOs & empowerment of young NEETs

Social DOers implementează în perioada 1 iunie – 31 decembrie 2015 proiectul Coaliția ONG-urilor pentru drepturile tinerilor NEET-investing in Social Doers, proiect finanțat prin granturile SEE 2009-2014, în cadrul Fondului ONG în România. Proiectul îsi propune creșterea capacității ONG-urilor care lucrează cu tinerii NEET (not in employment, education or training) și, respectiv a tinerelor fete in aceste situații sociale, pentru a se implica mai activ în creionarea politicilor publice și acțiuni de advocacy în beneficiul tinerilor NEET.

Social DOers selectează o echipă de traineri (2 traineri) care să contribuie la dezvoltarea şi livrarea conţinutului training-urilor de capacitare în cadrul proiectului.

Training-urile de capacitare sunt destinate:

  • Organizaţiilor neguvernamentale (30 ONG-uri) care lucrează cu şi pentru tineri NEET (atât prin programe de prevenție cât și intervenție), respectiv adresează nevoia acestora de a se implica în procese de advocacy la nivel local şi naţional pentru a influenţa politicile şi programele publice, în beneficiul tinerilor
  • Tinerelor femei în situaţii NEET – dezvoltarea abilităţilor hard şi soft ale acestora pentru a se implica actuv în viaţa comunităţii şi a le creşte implicit şansele de incluziune pe piaţa muncii.

Condiţii eligibilitate:

  • Certificat acreditat de formator (ANC/CNFPA)
  • Experienţă minim 3 ani de livrare training-uri
  • Experienţă minim 2 ani în livrare training-uri pe tematica aleasă

 

Profil ideal Trainer Advocacy

  • Cunoaşte mediul neguvernamental din România şi are experienţă relevantă în livrarea de training-uri către ONG-uri
  • Este informat cu privire la fenomenul NEET, piața muncii și angajabilitatea tinerilor
  • Are experienţă relevantă în lucrul/colaborarea cu autorităţi publice
  • Cunoaşte mecanismele și procesele de advocacy/influențare a deciziei publice – la nivel local/național (de preferat cunoște și instituțiile Europene relevante pe tematica NEET)
  • Are experienţă relevantă în design-ul de programe training advocacy şi influenţare politici publice
  • Are cunoştinţe relevante pe problematica de tineret
  • Are experienţă în lucrul direct cu facilitatori comunitari, lucrători de tineret sau lucrători sociali
  • Atitudine pro-activă

 

Profil ideal Trainer Empowerment of Young NEETs (cu accent pe tinerele fete)

  • Are experienţă directă în lucrul cu tineri în situaţii vulnerabile
  • Este persoană creativă, poate identifica noi metode de lucru şi angajament social a tinerilor în situaţii NEET
  • Este interesat să ramână în contact cu tinerele fete (15 persoane) şi să le ofere sprijin informativ şi după livrarea propriu-zisă a cursului, respectiv să contribuie la creşterea comunităţii
  • Are experienţă în training-uri dedicate tinerilor, în vederea creşterii participării publice a acestora
  • Atitudine pro-activă

Echipa de traineri va livra 3 cursuri a câte 4 zile fiecare, în regiunile Nord-Est, Sud-Est şi Sud-Vest, respectiv este necesară disponibilitatea acestora de deplasare în ţară 4 zile şi 1 zi – întâlnirea de evaluare. Trainerii se vor complementa în livrarea training-urilor, însă fiecare va fi responsabil pe una dintre cele două teme.

Responsabilităţi:

  • Design-ul agendei de training, în acord cu tematica şi obiectivele proiectului
  • Livrarea training-urilor în perioada stabilită de organizator
  • Colaborarea cu echipa de implementare a proiectului în vederea dezvoltării calitativă a conţinutului de training
  • Ramân în contact cu participanţii şi oferă suport informaţional (la cerere) până la finalul proiectului
  • Livrează raport final de training în termen de max. 10 zile de la înceheirea acestora
  • Colaborare și feedback continuu cu echipa Social DOers

 

Procedura de selecţie

  1. Transmiterea aplicaţiei scrise până la data de 23 iulie 2015 la adresa [email protected], cu subiectul Aplicaţie trainer Advocacy/ Empowerment of Young NEETs conţinând: CV, Scan Certificat formator, 1 scrisoare de recomandare relevantă pentru tema aleasă, propunere draft a agendei de training în acord cu tema aleasă, 1 ofertă de preț (în RON). Vor fi evaluate doar aplicațiile complete și transmise în termenul indicat.
  2. Interviu faţă în faţă – acesta va avea loc la Bucureşti, în ultima săptămână a lunii iulie. Costurile participării la interviu sunt suportate de aplicant.

Aspecte contractuale:

Serviciile vor fi prestate în baza unui contract de prestări servicii (pt. cei care sunt înregistrați ca PFA sau au o companie/ONG acreditat) sau în baza unei convenţii civile (se va decide după caz, menționăm însă că se preferă prima opțiune).

 


 

2 Trainers Selection: Advocacy for NGOs & empowerment of young NEETs

During 1st of June – 31 December 2015, Social Doers is implementing the NGO Coalition for Rights of Young NEET – investing in Social Doers project  , financed through SEE grants 2009-2014 within NGO Fund Romania, with the institutional support of the Youth and Sports Ministry. The project aims to raise the capacity of the NGOs working with Young NEETs (not in employment, education or training) and, respectively, of the young girls in those social situations, in order to increase their involvement in the development of public policies and advocacy actions, for the benefit of young NEETs.

Social Doers selects a team of trainers (2 trainers) to contribute to the development and delivery of content of the empowerment trainings within the project.

The empowerment trainings are designed for:

  • NGOs working with and for young NEETs (30 NGOs – prevention, but also intervention programs), addressing their need to engage in local and national advocacy processes in order to influence public policies and programs, for the youth benefit;
  • Young women in NEET situations – the development of their hard and soft skills in order to actively engage in the community life and to implicitly raise their inclusion chances on the labour market.

Eligibility conditions:

  • Accredited Trainer Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of delivering trainings
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in delivering trainings on this theme

 

Ideal profile Advocacy Trainer:

  • Knows Romanian NGO environment and has relevant experience in delivering trainings for NGOs
  • Informed about the NEET phenomenon, youth employment and employability
  • Relevant experience in working/collaborating with public authorities
  • Knows the mechanisms and processes of advocacy/public decision influence – locally/nationally (preferably knows the European relevant institutions regarding NEET issue)
  • Relevant experience in the design of advocacy and public policies influence training programs
  • Relevant knowledge on youth issue
  • Experience in direct work with community facilitators, youth workers or social workers
  • Pro-active attitude

 

Ideal profile Empowerment of Young NEETs (especially young women) Trainer:

  • Direct experience in working with youth in vulnerable situations
  • Creative person, able to identify new methods of work and social engagement of young NEETs
  • Interest to keep the contact with the young women (15 persons) and offer them informational support even after the end of the training and to contribute to the community growth
  • Experience in trainings addressed to youth public participation
  • Pro-active attitude

The training team will deliver 3 trainings of 4 days each, in the N-E, S-E and S-W regions – availability of travelling in those regions 4 days and 1 day (the evaluation meeting) is necessary. The trainers will complement themselves in delivering the courses, but each other will be responsible on one of the themes.

Indicative timetable:

  • Announcement of the selection results
  • Preparatory work-meeting
  • Developing the content and training agenda

September – October 2015:

  • Trainings delivery

November 2015:

  • Maintain online contact with the participants and the community

 

Responsibilities:

  • The design of training agenda, according with the project themes and objectives
  • Delivery of the trainings in the time schedule established by the organizer
  • Collaboration with the project implementation team regarding the qualitative development of the training content
  • Maintaining the contact with the participants and offering informational support till the end of the project
  • Delivery the final training report within maximum 10 days from the end of the event
  • Continuous collaboration and feedback with Social DOers team

 

Selection procedure:                

  1. Send the written application until 23rd of July, 2015 at the e-mail address [email protected], with the subject Trainer Advocacy/Empowerment of Young NEETs Application – Short term expert, containing: CV, Trainer Certificate scanned, 1 recommendation letter relevant for the chosen thematic, draft proposal for the training agenda accordingly to the chosen theme, 1 price offer (in RON). Only complete and submitted within the period indicated applications will be taken into consideration.
  2. Face to face interview – in the last week of July, at Bucharest. The costs of the participation will be supported by the applicant.

Contractual issues:

The services should be offered under a service provision contract (for those who are registered as A.P. or have an accredited company /NGO) or a civil convention, by case (first option is preffered)
